CTIA - The Wireless Association (Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association)
CTIA-The Wireless Association®, is an international nonprofit membership organization founded in 1984, representing all sectors of wireless communications – cellular, personal communication services and enhanced specialized mobile radio.

As an organization, CTIA represents service providers, manufacturers, wireless data and internet companies, as well as other contributors to the wireless universe. CTIA advocates on their behalf before the Executive Branch, the Federal Communications Commission, Congress, and state regulatory and legislative bodies.

CTIA also coordinates the industry’s voluntary efforts to bring consumers a wide variety of choices and information regarding their wireless service, and supports important industry initiatives such as Wireless AMBER Alerts, and the “When it comes to Wireless, Safety is Your Call” safe driving public service announcement campaign.

The association also operates the industry’s leading trade shows, as well as equipment testing and certification programs to ensure a high standard of quality for consumers.

RCA (Rural Cellular Association)
RCA is the premier association representing rural wireless telecommunications providers across the United States. RCA speaks with a strong, united voice on issues that concern its members and keeps them informed through timely sharing of information, knowledge and expertise to the common benefit of all members.

RCA has been at the heart of the rural wireless success story since it began in 1992. Their primary focus is representing two-way wireless communication providers with less than 500,000 subscribers. These companies primarily serve small rural markets each with its own set of challenges and opportunities. RCA’s primary goal is to help thier members meet those challenges successfully and capitalize on all opportunities. In addition, RCA provides opportunities to learn more about the industry and network with other members through various meetings and seminars.

The Association is a 501c(6) trade association and is governed by a Board of Directors, consisting of ten wireless providers and one Associate member. The Board oversees the work of seven standing committees, administrative staff and RCA Counsel.

ISO (International Organization for Standardization)
ISO is the world's largest developer and publisher of International Standards.

ISO is a network of the national standards institutes of 161 countries, one member per country, with a Central Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland, that coordinates the system.

ISO is a non-governmental organization that forms a bridge between the public and private sectors. On the one hand, many of its member institutes are part of the governmental structure of their countries, or are mandated by their government. On the other hand, other members have their roots uniquely in the private sector, having been set up by national partnerships of industry associations.

Therefore, ISO enables a consensus to be reached on solutions that meet both the requirements of business and the broader needs of society.

VoLGA (Voice over LTE via Generic Access)
The VoLGA Forum was initiated to specify and promote an approach for extending traditional GSM and UMTS circuit-switched services over LTE access networks.

Based on the existing 3GPP Generic Access Network (GAN) standard, VoLGA technology will enable mobile subscribers to receive a consistent set of voice, SMS (and other circuit-switched) services as they transition between GSM, UMTS and LTE access networks.

For mobile operators, VoLGA represents a low-cost, low-risk approach for bringing their primary revenue generating services (voice and SMS) to their upcoming LTE access network deployments.

To promote the widespread adoption of VoLGA technology, VoLGA Forum participants are currently developing a set of open specifications which will be made available through this website, and may be used by vendors and operators of wireless communications systems and applications to develop and deploy interoperable solutions.
